As an enterprise AI integration for SharePoint media search specialist, I help organizations make their video archives and media content searchable and actionable. Many companies store valuable knowledge in video files, but users cannot search inside these videos. In many organizations, video archives store valuable knowledge. However, users cannot search inside these videos. They cannot access spoken information or insights. As a result, traditional SharePoint search leaves hundreds or thousands of hours of content unused.
To address this challenge, I designed a solution that extracts transcripts and AI-generated insights from media files. Then, I store all results in SharePoint within the corresponding video folder. This way, the content remains secure, organized and easy to access.
The custom search interface lets users find specific words, phrases or insights across the entire media library. Each result links to the exact moment in the video. Moreover, when a user hovers over a result, the video plays automatically at the correct timestamp. Consequently, users no longer search for filenames, they search for spoken content and actionable insights.
I initially deployed this solution in a SharePoint On-Premises environment. Additionally, the same principles apply to SharePoint Online. The first full implementation took two to three months of design, development and optimization to ensure performance, security and scalability.
Overall, this approach transforms static media storage into an active knowledge platform. Organizations can leverage existing videos, make AI-generated insights actionable and give users a precise, intuitive search experience. Furthermore, it fully respects SharePoint’s native permissions.
